Public humanities and digital humanities: mutual inspiration and common (digital) tools


Course description:

The workshop goal is to provide a basic introduction to digital scholarly editions (DSE) encoded with TEI, an eXtensible Markup Language (XML) promote by a TEI Consortium, which develops a standard for the representation of texts in digital form and offers general guidelines for the encoding. The theoretical introduction will be followed by a hands-on experience (no previous knowledge needed) in using TEI with a XML Editor (oXygen). An example of working service Karaites Digital Archive eJazyszłar – based on TEI described documents, developed and maintained by Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center –will be presented.
